This season we bring to you a live online version of our popular Milkweed Papermaking workshop, designed to teach you the fundamentals of making paper from plant fibres at home, using simple, low-tech equipment.
Want to follow along with your own materials? You can add this Milkweed Papermaking Starter Kit to your registration.
The kit includes:
25 g of uncooked milkweed seed fibres, roughly cleaned (the fluffy stuff!)— it may sound like a small amount, but trust us, it goes a LONG way!
Enough soda ash to cook the fibres (not pictured here…because it looks like something that would get me canceled)
A 4 × 6 in. piece of papermaking screen to build your own small mould and deckle, as demonstrated during the workshop
10 pieces of interfacing felt for forming, pressing and drying your sheets
A printed cheatsheet with a visual step-by-step guide to the papermaking process
The starter kit is an optional add-on and is not required to participate in the online workshop. You can also obviously buy the kit for your own enjoyment without being signed up for the online workshop: we are not the craft police! ;)
**note that these will all ship out at the same time mid-October due to the seasonal availability of the milkweed fibers: we can’t rush nature!
